REMINDER - Some of you are not writing enough here. A single sentence isn't enough. I expect you to expand upon your writing. If you think you have written enough, you haven't, write more. Be sure to answer WHY you think something.

A. Are you watching the Olympics? Why or Why not?
Yes I am watching the Olympics. I love the Olympics! I watch them because i think the things that they do are amazing . What they do is so difficult and they make it look so easy. It also gets me pumped up for spring break because I am going skiing.

If you have been watching them, what has been the highlight so far?
The highlight so far has been the women's snowboarding half pipe. The U.S. got two medals. Farrington got gold and i think Kelly Clark who won gold in 2002 got bronze.

If you have not been watching them, what have you been doing instead?

Have you ever aspired to be an Olympian? What about in other areas? Have you ever dreamed of some sort of participating in some sort of big event like the Olympics, or Running with the Bulls in Spain, or something like that? If you have tell me about it.
I haven't aspired to be an Olympian until now. Since I have been watching the Winter Olympics this year it makes me really to be able to do the stuff they do. My favorite is snowboarding. I have never been snowboarding but it looks so fun! I also have heard that its a lot harder then skiing and takes a while to get the hang of it. Since we don't get any snow here in Austin and there is no where to snowboard it is on my bucket list to do someday.

Aperture, Shutter Speed, and ISO

F2.8 aperture

F16 aperture

1. What part of the body should we closely relate aperture?
The pupil

2. Finish this sentence - the smaller the Aperture will isolate the foreground only focusing it, the higher the Aperture will focus all the grounds in a photo.

3. In your own words tell me how aperture impacts Depth of Field?
Aperture affects how in focus the foreground, middle ground and background are in a picture, so in a picture that has a lower aperture it does not ae as much depth because only the foreground is in focus.

Photo Manipulation

In the story it talks about many different instances where journalistic have been manipulated in a an untruthful way. Many of the examples where from middle eastern journalists and others were from the U.S. The article also included that the photo manipulaters were punished by being striped of their job and reputation. Manipulation of photos is unethical because it leads the people who see the photo to believe something that may not be true.

I think this is the worst manipulations because it makes the intention and the action of the soldier totally different than it actually was. In this photo it makes the soldier seem like he means to harm the an and the child because the man is cowering and the soldier has its hand raised.

This is least bad manipulation because i can hardly tell a difference because between it and the original. The only thing that i notice to be different about the pictures is they changed the lighting of the photo which does not affect the truthfulness or the integrity of the photo in this case.

Cropping

This photo is an example of cropping because there are obviously more men involved in the gathering. However the photographer focused on Bush and the firefighter. This makes the picture dynamic.

Viewpoint

This photo represents viewpoint because the photographer is getting a worm's eye view of the tower collapsing. The photographer is underneath the tower instead of level with it.

Depth

This photo represents depth because there are two main parts of the picture. The one in front is in focus and the one in back is out of focus but is still a focal point, which makes the picture dynamic.

Symmetry

This photo represents symmetry because the two towers create symmetry. It is also dynamic because the smoke going to the left breaks the symmetry.

Avoiding Merging

This picture represents Avoiding merging because the two parts of the photo are not competing. They are positioned just right to fit the subjects without clashing.

Framing

This picture represents framing because the main subjects are framed by the pictures of the victims. The main subjects are the people looking in the mirror and the framing draws the eye to them.

Rule of Thirds

This photo represents the Rule of Thirds because the main focus of the picture is not completely centered. The firefighters, which are the subject, are shifted to the right. This makes the picture dynamic because you can see the fire and rubble in the background.

Simplicity

This photo represents simplicity because there is only one thing for the eye to be drawn to. The falling man is the only thing that stands out against the lines of the building.

Lines

This photo represents the rule of lines because the smoke is billowing out in lines which draws attention to the people in the building. Also the lines are diagonal which makes the picture dynamic.

Balance

In this photo the two towers balance each other out. The smoke also helps create balance because the towers are a bit off center towards the right so the flames going to the left creates balance.
